If you are unable to attend a counseling session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you may be charged for the full rate of the session.

Check your mental health benefits by asking these questions

 

  • Do I have mental health benefits?

  • Does my insurance cover telehealth?

  • What is the co-pay or co-insurance amount?

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

If you don’t have BCBS or BCN, also ask:

  • Does my insurance cover out-of-network providers?

  • How can I submit claims to get reimbursed?

Benefits of Private Pay

 

With private pay, you get to decide what you want to work on and for how long, without needing to justify it to an insurance company. You also have more privacy without an insurance provider or employer knowing your diagnosis. This is particularly important for people in the military, law enforcement, or high-level security jobs.

Insurance companies require a mental health diagnosis that becomes part of your permanent medical record. They also stipulate the number of sessions and the type or length of the sessions.
